2022年3月2日長岡市とホノルル市は姉妹都市締結10周年を迎えます。コロナ禍で人的交流が難しい状態の中でも、この節目の年にお互いの友情を深められる何かができないかと模索し、この「キルトで打ち上げよう！みんなで作ろう長岡大花火市民プロジェクト」を立ちあげました。

March 2, 2022 Nagaoka City and Honolulu City will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the sister city agreement.
Even in a situation where human interaction is difficult due to Covid-19, we sought to find something that could deepen mutual friendship in this milestone year, and set up this "Let's launch with a quilt! Let's make together Nagaoka Fireworks Citizens Project".

このプロジェクトは、平和・鎮魂の思いが込められている長岡大花火をモチーフに、ハワイの伝統文化であるハワイアンキルトの技法などを用い、キルト作品を長岡市民の皆さんと作成し、友好の証として毎年ホノルル市で展示したいというプロジェクトです。

This project uses the motif of Nagaoka Fireworks, which has the feeling of peace and requiem, and uses the techniques of Hawaiian quilts, which is a traditional Hawaiian culture, to create quilt works with the citizens of Nagaoka as a proof of friendship. It is a project that I want to exhibit in Honolulu every year.

 

作品は誰でも参加できるように、ヨーヨーキルトという簡単な技法を使い制作します。

約1万個のヨーヨーキルトを集め、縦2メートル横8メートルの作品を作りあげます。

​皆さん、ホノルルでキルトの長岡大花火を打ち上げましょう！

The work is created using a simple technique called yo-yo quilt so that anyone can participate. Collecting about 10,000 yo-yo quilts to create a work 2 meters long and 8 meters wide. Folks, let's launch the quilt Nagaoka Fireworks in Honolulu!
